Twenty five participants in the community of West St. George has successfully completed a six weeks training programme in Garment Construction.
The training programme is the brainchild of Hon. Cecil Mckie, Parliamentary Representative of West St. George and coordinated through the Adult and Continuing Education Unit (ACE).
Having been taken through the stages of the introduction to and use of the Sewing Machine and guided to cutting and stitching garments, the participants delved into the production of a variety of items which include simple tops, skirts to more complex hats, clutches and bags.
The participants were also engaged in sessions conducted by personnel of the Social and Development Skills Department which Focused on the topic “Becoming your own Entrepreneur.” The participants can now virtually start their own business.
