Bertie Pompey Sworn In As Temporary Magistrate

Former Deputy Commissioner of Police Bertie Pompey has been sworn in as Temporary Magistrate here.

Mr. Pompey took the oath of office at Government House this morning, in the presence of Government Officials and Members of the Legal Profession.

In congratulating Mr. Pompey, Governor General Sir Frederick Ballantyne encouraged him to always try to be fair in his judgement.

In his response, Mr. Pompey said he is honoured to be called upon to serve as Temporary Magistrate.
