The finals of the “My Vincy” Photography exhibition, was held yesterday afternoon on the ground floor of the Courts St. Vincent Main Store, located in Kingstown.
Hosted by Express Vincy in collaboration with Courts (St. Vincent) Limited and a number of other local entities, the Exhibition ran from October 25th to November 8th, to coincide with this country’s 37th Anniversary of Independence.
Forty Amateur photographers submitted entries of photographs, depicting various aspects of the Vincentian life.
Twenty-six year old John-dol Moore won after his entry of a picture depicting Wallilabou Heritage Park, in the Nature Category, while 15 year old Kyle Da Silva a Student of the Mountain View SDA Academy took the second spot.
Mr. Moore who is currently self-employed received a digital camera courtesy Courts St. Vincent Limited, three cases of Vita Malt and 150 dollars compliments Express Vincy, while Mr. Da Silva received 75 dollars from Vinci Express, a handset from Digicel and 2 cases of Vita Malt. Both photographers said they were happy with the results.
Meanwhile, Desrie Karen Providence – founder of Express Vincy, urged young people to use their electronic devices to be creative.
Calvert Jones, Local Artist and Chief Judge of the Competition, said that the competition was an excellent opportunity for young people to express their talent.
The My Vincy Photography competition is the second to be organized by Express Vincy.
