As at March 31st 2016, St. Vincent and the Grenadines has an accumulative total of 1,503 cases of HIV/ AIDS.
SVG recorded its first case of HIV/IDS in the year 1984.
Director of the HIV/AIDS Unit in the Ministry of Health Wellness and the Environment – Ferosa Roache told NBC News that from January to March 2016 St. Vincent and the Grenadines recorded 5 new cases of HIV/AIDS; 4 males and 1 female.
Ms. Roache said though the stats this year, thus far, reflect a decrease in the recorded cases of HIV/AIDS when compared to the corresponding period last year, it is too early to properly analyze the new figures.
Moreover, Ms. Roache is appealing to Vincentians to come forward and get tested and know their HIV status.
