Fisherman Philroy Matthews of Petit Bordel is celebrating today, after walking away with the Fisherman of the Year title for 2018.

The result was announced during the Closing Ceremony for this year’s Fisherman’s Month of Activities, held at the Fisheries Conference Room this afternoon.

Mr. Matthews brought in 928 pounds of fish, to take the top prize of one 75-horsepower yamaha outboard engine, as well one trophy, one case of outboard oil; and a case of Guinness.

Second was Michael Cordice with 865-pounds of fish, while Cliff Young was third with 495.5-pounds of fish.

Mr. Matthews said he was elated to win the title, after trying for many years.
