Ecuador Appeal

The Government of St. Vincent and the Grenadines is spearheading two events today in support of the people of Ecuador, who were affected by a massive earthquake.

The earthquake struck Ecuador on April 16, resulting in the deaths of more than 600 people and injuring more than 2,000 people.

The Vincentian public will have an opportunity to assist the people of Ecuador through a National Radio Appeal tonight involving several local Radio Stations.

The Radio Appeal will originate from the National Broadcasting Corporation, NBC Radio, from 8:30 tonight.

A Church Service will also be held at the SVG Community College from 8:30 this morning in support of the Ecuadorians.

This country has benefited from the assistance from the Government and people of Ecuador.

Following the December 2013 floods here, the government and people of Ecuador had responded by providing finances to rebuild several bridges.

A number of Ecuadorian teachers are currently here in St. Vincent and the Grenadines participating in a seven month program at the Villa campus of the Community College, designed to improve their competency to teach English as a second language.
