The Ministry of Health Wellness and the Environment will this week continue its series of public awareness sessions and exhibitions on Integrated Vector Control Measures in various communities across the country.

The Ministry’s Insect Vector Control Unit is collaborating with the Pan American Health Organization to host the sessions, which run until Friday this week.

The next session is set for tomorrow Tuesday June 10th at the Questelles Learning Resource Centre from five in the afternoon, to be followed on Wednesday June 11th by a session at the Chateaubelair Primary School from 5:00pm.

The officials will then travel to the Marriaqua Government School on Thursday June 12th for another session from 5:00pm, targeting residents of Mesopotamia and surrounding areas.

The final session is slated for Friday June 13th at the Georgetown Secondary School from 5:00pm

The sessions are being held as the Ministry of Health continues efforts to control the spread of the Chikungunya virus here. The Ministry says that there are now two hundred and eighty confirmed laboratory cases of the mosquito-borne virus here.

Two hundred and seventy-four of these cases are on the Grenadine Island of Bequia and six on mainland St. Vincent.
