Director of Special Projects in the Prime Minister’s Office, Dr. Jerrol Thompson said, the Government expects St. Vincent and the Grenadines to soar highly in the future, relative to its technological developments.
He made this statement following the news of St. Vincent and the Grenadines emerging the winner in the Caribbean Association of National Telecommunication Organizations (CANTO) “Connect the Caribbean Project”.

St. Vincent and the Grenadines won the competition with its Smart Project, which involves an agreement between the Government and telecoms provider LIME, for provision of internet access to 340 households across the country at just ten dollars per month.

Dr. Thompson said the Government recognizes that there are tremendous opportunities for growth in the global Information and Communications Technology (ICT) sector, and, they are positioning this country to capitalize on these opportunities.

He said this is why they will continue to train teachers and students and other members of the populous in the aspects of ICT.
