The Buildings Roads and General Services Authority BRAGSA will begin immediate restoration of the main road just south of the Spring Village Bridge in North Leeward today.

A release from the National Emergency Management Organization, NEMO says restoration works will be carried out after the bridge was damaged by torrential rains on the weekend.

NEMO is advising Heavy Vehicles to desist from using this road until further notice.

All other users of the road are being advised to approach the area with extreme caution and should not stop in the area where caution tapes have been posted.

NEMO says over ten areas across St. Vincent were affected as a result of Torrential rains from a Trough System.

The major affected areas are; Buccament Bay, Kingstown, Largo Height, Dorsetshire Hill, La Croix, Rose Place, Belair, Belmont/Fair Hall, E. T. Joshua Airport, Arnos Vale and Trigger Ridge.

The heavy rains caused flooding, damage to homes, landslides and road blockages on mainland St. Vincent.

BRAGSA says the bridge in Vermont, which was recently repaired, also suffered major damage on the weekend.
