Prime Minister Dr. Ralph Gonsalves says the removal of moorings in the vicinity of Salt Whistle Bay is being done to ensure the long-term sustainability of the Tobago Cays Marine Park.
The Prime Minister provided some insight into this situation as he responded to a question in Parliament last week, in relation to a letter issued to Nigel Forde, informing him to remove his moorings from the area.
Dr. Gonsalves said the action taking by the Board of the Tobago Cays Marine Park is part of a wider programme involving upgrades which include the removal or replacement of moorings.
Dr. Gonsalves explained that the moorings installed by Mr. Forde are illegally placed.
