In response to a question at a Media Conference on Monday, Prime Minister Dr. Ralph Gonsalves said the Government has amended the law to prevent the granting of citizenship on the basis of Marriage of convenience.
The Prime Minister noted that previously there had been some cases where foreign nationals get married to Vincentians in order to earn citizenship and obtain a passport from this country.
The Prime Minister also said that a citizen of St. Vincent and the Grenadines can have his or citizenship revoked if they fail to adhere to certain requirements.
