Former Minister of Culture, Rene Baptiste, has presented a special achievement award to Marla Nanton for her outstanding work and contribution to the steel band art form in St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
Ms. Nanton currently serves as the Music Director of Scotiabank South East Steel Orchestra and directs the group’s HEARTS OF STEEL concert.
Ms. Baptiste presented the award on the opening night of the production, on behalf of the Vincentian Association of Artists, Writers and Producers.
In accepting the award, Ms. Nanton said she is dedicating the award to her Mom, Anita Nanton.
