Vector Control Unit Presence Is No Cause For Alarm

Officials from the Ministry of Health, Wellness and the Environment are appealing to the public not to be alarmed when they see members of the Vector Control Unit conducting work in their communities.

Chairman of the National Surveillance Committee, Dr. Rosmond Adams said this work is being done to ensure that there is no spread of the Chikungunya Virus in St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

He also reiterated that to date there has been no reported cases of the Chikungunya Virus in the country.

Dr. Adams said the Ministry is continuing to put precautionary measures in place to educate the population about the Aedes Egypti Mosquito which transmits the disease.

Dr. Adams is also appealing to the public to cooperate with the members of the Vector Control Unit in its work to ensure that the population is not affected by the Chikungunya Viral disease.
