A call for the reduction of child violation is being made from the family affairs unity within the Ministry of National Mobilization as activities continue to observe child abuse awareness and prevention month.
Speaking to NBC News today, Lou- Anne Boyde, committee member within the Ministry of National
Mobilization said that the reality is that the crime cannot totally be eliminated but however they are playing their path towards the reduction of child abuse.
Ms. Boyde said that the ministry is aiming towards educating vincentians that children is this nation’s prized possession.
Ms. Boyde said that over the last two years there have been an increase in the reported cases regarding child abuse with 45 cases in 2012 and a hike of 53 cases in 2013.
She said that the ministry is taking an educational outreach approach to clamp down on child sexual abuse in this nation.
