Botanical Gardens Long Term Sustainability As A Premier Tourist Attraction

A call has been made for a reassessment of the management structure of the local Botanical Gardens, to ensure its long term sustainability as one of this country’s premier tourist attractions.

The call came from Superintendent of Marine and Terrestrial Parks at National Parks Rivers and Beaches Authority, Andrew Lockhart, during the Views On Issues programme aired on NBC Radio this month.

The discussion focused on the 250th anniversary of the Botanical Gardens and its importance to St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

Mr. Lockhart said it has become necessary to manage the facilities as a business, given the high cost of maintenance which is required.
Mr. Lockhart said measures will also be taken to control visitor numbers
