An appeal has been made for more local Dick Jockeys or DJ’s as they are more commonly known, to play and promote more locally produced music.

This appeal was made by President of the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Association of Music Professionals (SVG AMP), Orandie “Bomani” Charles during a media briefing which was held to unveil the nominees for the different categories in the National Music Awards.

Awards will be presented in twenty-four categories during the Red Carpet event, slated for March 6th at the Peace Memorial Hall, while an addition three Special Awards will be presented.

Mr. Charles said because many DJ’s do not continuously play a lot of Vincentian music, it was a challenge to select nominees for the DJ of the Year Category in the National Music Awards.

Mr. Charles said the country has a vast amount of musical talent and he is calling on all DJ’s to do their part in promoting Vincentian talent.
