Extensive rehabilitative work is to be carried out on this country’s rural road network, under the 11th European Development Fund EDF agreement, signed this week between the Government of St. Vincent and the Grenadines and the European Union.
Prime Minister Dr. Ralph Gonsalves outlined some areas that would receive attention, during a News Conference held on Monday, following the signing of the agreement with the European Union’s Ambassador to Barbados and the Eastern Caribbean Mikael Barford
Dr. Gonsalves said the specific objectives of the 11th EDF are to strengthen the national road management and maintenance programme, while minimizing environmental impacts and to upgrade and climate-proof village and feeder roads
He said a list has already been prepared of the roads to be rehabilitated.
The Prime Minister said infrastructural work to be carried out on the roads will provide valuable support for the agricultural sector.
