“A value has to be put on policing”, and officers must be rewarded accordingly. So said Prime Minister Dr. Ralph Gonsalves this morning while addressing Non Commissioned Police Officers at a conference aimed at empowering middle managers.
The Prime Minister said that officers are the most important part of the police force, and in order to raise the standard of the Royal St. Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force (RSVPF), the individual officers need to be uplifted.
Dr. Gonsalves said that in an effort to aid in the advancement of police officers in this country, his government offers a $1000 advance to any member of the force who wants to enter higher education.
He noted that once the officer is successful in his or her endeavour, the money does not have to be repaid.
