Rock Gutter Inquest

The Coroner’s Inquest into the road traffic incident which occurred at Rock Gutter in January this year, has been adjourned until next month.

Hearing in the Inquest was held last week Monday October 5th to Thursday 8th and also on Tuesday 13th and Wednesday 14th.

Thirty witnesses presented evidence during the hearing, before Presiding Magistrate Ricky Burnette.

Yesterday, court officials paid a visit to the site of the incident in Rock Gutter, to get a first-hand look at the area.

Hearing will resume on Monday November 3rd at nine-thirty in the morning, at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court.

At that time, Presiding Magistrate, Ricky Burnette will present a summation of the evidence, following which the Jury will deliberate.

Seven students died during the incident, on January 12th, when the van in which they were traveling went over an embankment and into the sea.
