Trinidad and Tobago hammered St. Vincent and the Grenadines 6-nil at the Hasely Crawford Stadium in Port of Spain Trinidad last night in their Group “C” CONCACAF Zone semi-final round of the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualification return leg Football match, following their 3-2 win at the Arnos Vale Sports Complex here on Good Friday.

Goals by Sheldon Bateau (36th minute), Joevin Jones (50th and 60th minutes), Kevin Molino (66th minute), and Trevin Caesar (86th and 89th minutes) sealed victory for Trinidad and Tobago.

Last night’s victory took Trinidad and Tobago to 10 points at the top of Group “C”. They are now within reach of filling one of two Qualifying spots to next year’s six-team playoff, from which three teams will automatically qualify for the 2018 World Cup Finals in Russia. A fourth team from CONCACAF will earn an Inter-continental playoff berth.

Trinidad and Tobago still require a draw at home against Guatemala on 2nd September to qualify.

In other CONCACAF Zone matches played yesterday, Honduras beat El Salvador 2-nil in Honduras, Mexico defeated Canada 2-nil in Mexico, Panama won from Haiti 1-nil in Panama, Costa Rica beat Jamaica 3-nil in Costa Rica, and the USA defeated Guatemala 4-nil in the United States.
