Defending League Champions, L. L. B Street Kickers are the first holders of the Ron Noel Trophy after they won the Opening match of this year’s Belfongo Football League at the Belair Playing Field Saturday afternoon.
They beat last year’s Knock-out Champions, Fresh 2-0 after goals from Adano Johnson in the 18th minute, and Kevin Audain in the 65th minute.
The Ron Noel Trophy has been introduced this year for the Opening Match of the Belfongo Football Championship. It is in honor of the late Ron Noel, an outstanding son of the soil of the Belair area.
One of the originally registered teams withdrew from competition leaving ten team to contest the League and Knock-out competitions this year.
President of the St Vincent and the Grenadines Football Federation, Venold Coombs, and Sandra Noel, wife of Ron Noel addressed yesterday’s Opening Ceremony in which 6 teams participated. Lukan emerged winners of the Parade of Teams.
The first League match will take place on Wednesday at 4.30 p.m. St Vincent and the Grenadines Broadcasting Catalan will meet 1998 Hillside at the Belair Playing Field.
