Among the leading causes of death in St. Vincent and the Grenadines are Hypertension and Cardiovascular Diseases.

This has been confirmed by Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) Regional Advisor on Non Communicable Diseases (NCD’s), Dr. Tomo Kanda

Dr. Kanda however noted that the threat from these diseases can be reduced, once people change their lifestyle and eating habits.

Dr. Kanda was addressing a Rally hosted by the SVG National Diabetic and Hypertensive Association, held at Heritage Square earlier this week to mark World Hypertension Day.
