Dragons and Rockets continue strong play with wins over Hornets and Hawks

There were victories for Dragons and Rockets in the Under-16 Division, while Young Duke won in the 2nd Division in Wednesday’s matches of the Vita Malt Bequia Basketball Championships at the Hard Court of the Clive Tannis Playing Field.

In the Under-16 Division, Dragons defeated Hornets 38-28. The leading scorer for Dragons was Omario Louie with 14 points, 11 rebounds, 1 assist, 5 steals, and 3 blocks. Tristan Stowe with 12 points, 6 rebounds, and 1 assist led the way for Hornets.

Rockets won from Hawks 33-25. The top scorer for Rockets was Keon Gooding with 25 points, 17 rebounds, 19 steals, and 3 blocks, while the leading scorer for Hawks was Corsini Pollard with 16 points, 9 rebounds, 1 assist, and 4 steals.



In the Second Division. Jermaine John hit a game high 45 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists, and 5 steals as Young Duke beat Blazing Heat 71-55. Jovanni Derrick with 22 points, 12 rebounds, 4 assists 7 steals, and 1 block led the way for Blazing Heat.

The Championships will continue today. At 6 pm, Titans will face Hawks, at 7:30 pm, Hornets will oppose Rockets, and at 9:30 pm, Wizards will play against Blazing Heat.
