A head count of St. Vincent and the Grenadines National Bird will soon be carried out.
Director of Forestry, Fitzgerald Providence, the parrot Census will be conducted to determine the population of the Amazona Guildingi (St. Vincent Parrot) in the wild following a recently held exercise carried out at Rabacca, around the proposed site for the extraction of geothermal energy.
Mr. Providence said the objective of that exercise was to ensure that the National Bird population would not be adversely affected by the national Geothermal Project.
The St. Vincent Parrot is a protected species.
