A TROPICAL STORM WARNING is in effect for St Vincent and the Grenadines.
Tropical storm conditions (sustained winds of 39 to 73 mph) are expected within our area.

At 2:00 pm the centre of Tropical Storm Matthew was located near latitude 13.6 N and longitude 61.3 W or about 20 miles north north-west of mainland St Vincent.

Tropical Storm Matthew is moving westward at 20 mph (31km/h). The maximum sustained winds are 60 mph with higher gusts. The minimum central pressure is 1008 millibars. Gradual strengthening is expected.

On the forecast track, the center of Tropical Storm Matthew is passing to the north of St Vincent and the Grenadines. However, significant amount of activity is still east of St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

Expected Conditions:
• Tropical storm conditions will spread across our islands this afternoon into tonight
• Pockets of moderate to heavy showers, periods of rain, thunderstorms and gusty winds will occur
• Rainfall accumulations of 4 to 8 inches (100 to 200 millimeters) are possible, with higher amounts likely in mountainous areas.
• Flash floods can be expected in low lying areas
• Seas expected to be very rough in open waters with swells of 4 to 6 meters (9 to 12 feet)
•
The St. Vincent and the Grenadines Meteorological Services will continue to operate from the EMERGENCY OPERATING CENTER (EOC) at NEMO.

A TROPICAL STORM WARNING is in effect for St Vincent and the Grenadines.
Residents in flood prone and mountainous areas should take precautions against flooding and land-slippage.
Sea swells can deteriorate especially around high tide times. The next high tide is expected at 3:38pm and then at 4:41am on Thursday. Small craft operators should have already secured boats. A high surf advisory is in effect for dangerous and life threatening swells and surf.

All across St. Vincent and the Grenadines should be on the alert, we are on a STORM WARNING.

The next update is expected at 6 p.m. this evening.
