MATTHEW HEADING OVER THE CENTRAL CARIBBEAN SEA……A TROPICAL STORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FOR ST.VINCENT AND THE GRENADINES

AT 5.00 AM THE CENTER OF TROPICAL STORM MATTHEW WAS LOCATED NEAR 14.0°N 64.7°W OR ABOUT 246 MILES (369 KM) TO THE WEST OF ST VINCENT AND THE GRENADINES. TROPICAL STORM MATTHEW IS MOVING TOWARDS THE WEST AT 16 MP/H….26 KM/H

SUSTAINED WINDS ARE NEAR 65 MP/H…100 KM/H WITH HIGHER GUSTS. STORM FORCE WINDS EXTEND OUTWARDS UP TO 185 MILES (295 KM) PRIMARILY TO THE NORTH EAST OF THE CENTER.

THE ESTIMATED MINIMUM CENTRAL PRESSURE IS 1002 MILLIBARS.

Moderate to heavy showers, thunderstorms and gusty winds will continue to affect the island throughout this morning. Further rainfall accumulations of 1 to 3 inches (25 to 75 millimeters) are still possible. In addition, seas will continue to be rough in open waters with swells of up to 4 meters (13ft).
Residents living in areas prone to flooding and landslides should continue to take the necessary precautions.

SYNOPSIS AND FORECAST CONDITIONS
Synopsis: Tropical strong Matthew will continue to affect the island.
Today’s Forecast: Cloudy to overcast with some light to moderate scattered showers, occasional gusty winds and isolated thunderstorms.
Winds: E – ESE at 20 to 40 km/h.
Seas: Very rough in open water with swells 3.0 – 4.0.m (10 – 13ft). A small craft warning is in effect for above normal sea swells.

The St. Vincent and the Grenadines Meteorological Office will continue to monitor Tropical Storm Matthew , and issue the next advisory at 8am.
