RABACCA SAND MINING

Steps are to be taken here by the Government to put the necessary machinery in place, for the start of sand mining at the Rabacca site from Monday.

Minister of Transport and Works Julian Francis announced at a Media Conference yesterday that the mining of sand from Beaches will cease, as this activity is having an adverse environmental impact on the nation’s coastlines.

Minister Francis said the process will be managed and controlled by the Roads, Bridges and General Services Authority, BRAGSA, and he appealed for the support of the public in the sand mining exercise.

He said efforts are being made to have the Sand Mining exercise begin on Monday at Rabacca.
