The Ministry of Tourism and Culture is working towards the creation of an Independence Song competition this year.
Minister of Tourism and Culture, Cecil Mckie, said it is expected to be introduced as part of activities to celebrate this country’s 40th anniversary of Independence on October 27th, 2019.
He was speaking at the launch of the 2019 Secondary School Bands Showcase, which will be held on March 23rd at the decommissioned E.T. Joshua Airport at Arnos Vale.
Some 20 school bands are expected to participate in the 2019 edition of the showcase, under the theme: “Bringing a Modern Approach to Music Education”.
Minister McKie said the initiative will seek to boost ongoing efforts to promote the cultural and performing arts in St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
