Minister of Agriculture Saboto Caesar said the Government will continue to push for more local farmers to market organically produced agricultural produce that are free of synthetic Herbicides and Pesticides.

He made this statement during the opening of last week’s two-day workshop for twenty Pesticide Inspectors which focused on the disposal of harmful pesticides.

Minister Caesar said organically produced agricultural produce are sold at higher prices and this means farmers will see higher profits for their produce.

He said many markets exist for organically produced agricultural produce and they want farmers to move toward this healthy production practice.

Minister Caesar said the nation’s farmers are operating businesses and when they tell farmers about these organic markets they are also sure to explain the financial benefits to the farmers.

He said the training is timely as the Government pushes for a healthier and wealthier St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
