Last Friday an additional four hundred and forty-five students at the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Community College (SVGCC) received five hundred dollars in cash as an incentive for obtaining five CSEC subjects including Math and English at the Villa Campus of the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Community College.

The initiative which was started in 2005 by the Unity Labour Party has been credited with the improvement in students’ results.

In addition, 165 students who obtained at least two CAPE subjects including Communication Studies will also receive five hundred dollars. The presentations form part of government’s ‘Education Revolution’ thrust.

Prime Minister Dr. Ralph Gonsalves in his address said that since 2005 over five thousand students have benefitted from the program to the tune of 2.6 million dollars.

Meanwhile … Chief Education Officer, Lou-Ann Gilchrist said there has been an increase in the number of students who have been rewarded this year.
