Dr. Godwin Friday, Parliamentary Representative for Northern Grenadines was declared President of the Opposition New Democratic Party, after his contender St. Clair Leacock withdrew his candidacy at an Extra Ordinary Convention held yesterday.
Dr. Friday promised to redouble his efforts to assist the people of St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
In his Acceptance Speech, Dr. Friday said his immediate focus will be to get to know about the realities affecting the people of this country.
Dr. Friday noted that while this period of transition for their party it is also a period of great opportunity. He said it is their chance to embrace more than they have ever, not only friends and colleagues but old foes and adversaries.
He said he will soon be carrying out an on-the-ground campaign throughout the 15 constituencies. This is where they will hear from the ordinary people, party supporters and non-supporters as well.
