Prime Minister Dr. Ralph Presented Exam Bursaries to Students today at the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Community College

606 Students who in 2013 completed their CXC and A’Levels examinations successfully were today awarded a sum in excess of 300 Thousand EC dollars.

Prime Minister Dr. Ralph Gonsalves presented the bursaries to most of the students today during a presentation ceremony hosted by the Ministry of Education at the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Community College.

Dr. Gonsalves said the country has seen an increase in the number of awardees at the CXC level of about 12 ½% and at the A’Level Cape, about 19%, with an overall aggregate of 15%

Dr Gonsalves said his Government will continue to deepen and broaden the Education Revolution, with 28% of the recurrent budget allocated to expenditures on education, an increase he said from 20% in the year 2000.

Meanwhile, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Education Nicole Bonadie-Baker said there has been an increase in the number of persons who met the requirements for the 500 dollars bursary.

Speaking at the award ceremony today, Mrs. Bonadie-Baker said there is an increase over last year’s figure of 527 students.

Mrs. Bonadie-Baker said persons who didn’t collect their bursary today, can do so from tomorrow at the Ministry of Education, between the hours of 9:30 to 11:30am and 1:30 to 3:30pm daily.
