Seventy-five Teachers from primary and secondary schools throughout the country are now better equipped to devise programme to enhance the literacy skills of students.

The Teachers involved in a training workshop, held last Wednesday, Thursday and Friday at the Girl Guides Headquarters.

Senior Education Officer with Responsibility for Primary Schools in the Leeward area and the Southern Grenadines, Joycelyn Blake-Browne said the sessions focused on areas such as Planning and Intervention Strategies, Phonology, vocabulary and comprehension strategies.

Mrs. Blake-Browne said the training was intended to equip Teachers with the expertise to improve the reading skills of students.She also stated that the Ministry of Education is expecting to see improved results in schools, as a result of the training.
