A Workshop focusing on Exploring Volcanic Risk Awareness and Communication on St. Vincent began here today.

The seminar is being hosted by the National Emergency Management Organization (NEMO) in collaboration with The University of the West Indies Seismic Research Centre, The Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency (CDEMA) and the Strengthening Resilience in Volcanic Areas (STREVA) Project.

Delivering the Main Address, National Security Adviser, Sir Vincent Beach said there is no place for complacency when living in Small Island States like St. Vincent and the Grenades and others which are prone to Natural Disasters.

Meanwhile Director of the National Emergency Management Organization (NEMO), Howie Prince is hoping that a Communication plan can be developed over the next two days, to guide persons on how to respond in times of a Volcanic Eruption.
