Minister of Agriculture’s Saboto Ceasar has pointed to the need for mechanisms to be put in place to alert local farmers on the possible effects of adverse weather conditions which may affect the island.

Speaking at a news conference on Monday, Minister Ceasar said the devastation caused by the December 24th floods highlighted the need for improved warning systems.

Minister Ceasar said like fishermen, reports should also target farmers in an effort to minimize the losses incurred by the agricultural sector.

Minister Ceasar also noted that the scale of the disaster also highlighted to the need for proper land use research.
