Educate, Demonstrate, Participate, is the theme under which the St. Vincent Electricity Services (VINLEC) will host its first ever National Occupational, Safety and Health Conference this month.
Speaking at a media briefing today, Chief Executive Officer Thornely Mayers said Vinlec is aiming to achieve several things, some of which are, to help enhance the legal and regulatory framework of occupational health in this country.
Mr. Myers said that during the company’s month long activities, the company will be seeking to take things further, noting that legislation is an important aspect of this thrust.
He said this country is currently operating under the factory and machinery regulation of 1943 which he noted is more than 60 years and things have changed drastically since then.
