Senior Education Officer, Aldia Gumbs-Dyer, said efforts must be made to ensure the proper use of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) by the nation’s youth.

She was speaking at this morning’s start of a one-day workshop, dubbed the “EZ Learning Workshop”, which forms part of a series of Professional Development Sessions aimed at improving the technological abilities of teachers.

Mrs. Gumbs-Dyer said with the second phase of the “One Laptop per Child” initiative expected to roll out shortly, steps must be taken to ensure that the technology is used for the positive development of the nation’s youth.

Mrs. Gumbs-Dyer said an important task is to ensure that teachers have the necessary skills and competencies to derive maximum benefits from the programme.
