Today is being observed as World Ozone Day.

The National Ozone Unit will host a Cocktail Ceremony at the Methodist Church Hall later today to observe the day.

The Ceremony will feature the certification of thirty Technicians who were trained in Hydrocarbon technologies; the launch of five Recovery Centres around St. Vincent and the Grenadines for the collection of ozone depleting substances, and the launch of an Adult and Children’s Ozone Educational Handbook.

Other activities include A World Ozone Day Fair which will be held at the Methodist Church Hall on Friday, 19th September, from 10:00am to 3:00pm.

The Fair will feature Environmental Education booths, Refrigeration and Air-conditioning Companies booths, with the highlight being presentations from schools around St. Vincent and the Grenadines, showcasing their understanding of the effects of ozone depletion and its protection.

These events will highlight the achievements of St. Vincent and the Grenadines in the fight against ozone depletion and its restoration, in keeping with the year’s theme “The Mission Goes On”.

The Cocktail Ceremony takes place at the Methodist Church Hall from seven tonight.
