As Vincentians prepare to celebrate the country’s 35th Anniversary of Independence, a New York based Diaspora organization is making plans to hold its own celebrations.

The Council of St. Vincent and the Grenadines (COSAGO) will collaborate with the Consulate of St. Vincent and the Grenadines to organize the activities.

President of COSAGO, Laverne Mc Dowald Thompson says this year three activities will be held, beginning on October 19th, 2014 with a church service at the St. Paul’s Episcopal Church at 157 St. Paul’s Place in New York.

Mrs. McDowald Thompson said the celebrations will climax with a Gala Luncheon on October 26th which will include official speeches and the honoring of one of COSAGO’s members, Joanne Legair.

This year’s honoree Joanne Legair, was identified as one of the survivors of the tragedy that claimed thousands of lives when planes flew into the twin towers in Manhattan, New York City on September 11th, 2001.
