Concern Has Arisen From The Public About This Country’s Agricultural Issues

A number of communities throughout St. Vincent and the Grenadines have expressed concerns about the negative impact of human activities on the natural environment.

The issues were highlighted during a series of community consultations over the last year by a steering committee which was established to develop a National Action Plan for Combating Desertification or Land Degradation.

It forms part of efforts to fulfill this country’s obligation to the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification/Land Degradation (UNCCD).

Local Project Coordinator for the UNCCD, Noretta John, said the committee was able to document the concerns of the various communities.
Miss John said a number of farmers also received training in soil conservation techniques.
