The Focal Point in St. Vincent and the Grenadines for the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification or Land Degradation

Todd Lewis has highlighted the actions taken to address the issue of land degradation and drought in St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

Mr. Lewis was addressing a meeting held here last week to discuss the findings of a steering committee, which was established to develop a National Action Plan for combatting Desertification or Land Degradation.

He noted that recent studies have suggested that there is a direct trend between human intervention and climate variations, which have the ability to cause tremendous damage.

And, he pointed out that actions have been taken here to address the issue of land degradation and drought in St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

The workshop was organized by the Ministry of Health, as part of efforts to fulfill this country’s obligation to the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification/Land Degradation (UNCCD).
