CBU

As may be aware, the Caribbean Broadcasting Union (CBU) was recently elected as General Secretary of the Global Alliance on Media and Gender (GAMAG).

I am very pleased to announce that a sister GAMAG organization, the International Women’s Media Foundation (IWMF) has just launched the Howard G. Buffett Fund for Women Journalists.

This unique Fund will allow the IWMF to better advance the role of women in the news media around the world. A total of $230,000 will be awarded in 2015 to applicants who best make the case as to why their proposal or opportunity is essential in exposing under-reported stories, strengthening their story-telling skills, developing new expertise or supporting news media projects or organizations.

Eligible staff of CBU members are strongly encouraged to submit proposals. The inaugural funding round is open for online applications up to March 23, 2015. Grantees will be notified in May.
