Salt

Senior Nutritionist in the Ministry of Health, Joyce Burgin, said while salt is an integral part of any diet, efforts must be made to avoid excess salt intake in the diet.

She made the point during NBC’s Face to Face programme yesterday, which was held as part of activities to observe World Salt Awareness Week, being observed under the theme: ‘Healthier Futures’.

The week serves to highlight the importance of reducing salt intake in all populations throughout the world, with this year’s focus on Salt and Children.

Miss Burgin urged persons to limit their daily salt intake to avoid adverse health complications.
Miss Burgin urged persons to read the labels on packaged foods in an effort to better monitor and manage their salt intake.
