The Information Technology Services Division will host a two-day Web Development and Mobile Application Workshop from today, targeting young women and girls from the age of 15.

The event is being held to coincide with International Girls in ICT Day which will be observed tomorrow Thursday April 23rd, under the theme: Girls & Women & Innovation”.

The workshop sessions will be conducted today and tomorrow on the Second Floor of the CLICO Building, beginning at 9am. The Facilitators will be Phillia Alexander of the Information Technology Services Division and Janique-ka John of Computec.

International Girls in ICT Day aims to create a global environment that empowers and encourages girls and young women to consider careers in the growing field of information and communication technologies.

To date, over 111-thousand girls and young women have taken part in more than 3,500 events held in 140 countries around the world.

Here in St. Vincent & the Grenadines, the Information Technology Services Division has conducted activities to celebrate the Day for the past three years.

The Divisions says about one thousand female students from the 3rd and 4th forms in Secondary Schools across the country have been made aware of the opportunities in the ICT sector and have been empowered with the knowledge that they too can have a career in ICT or incorporate it into their choice of career.
