The St. Vincent and the Grenadines Fire Department (SVGFD) have recorded 48 fires so far this year. However, the actual amount might be higher, because not all fires are reported.
Speaking on Monday’s “On the Beat” programme, Constable McNeil Ellis gave a rundown of the fire statistics thus far.
So far this month, there have been 14 bush fires, 1 house and 1 pole fire. Corporal Michael Bess added that the month of May has seen more potential for fires, because of where it falls in the dry season.
The fire department said that the statistics for the month of May are high.
