Country Representative for the Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture (IICA)- Michael Dalton has said that women continue to play a great role in National Development in St. Vincent and the Grenadines and the rest of the region.

He made this statement during a Women’s Conference hosted by the Windward Island Farmers Association (WINFA) in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture and The Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture (IICA), to observe International Women’s Day on Tuesday.

Mr. Dalton said Women in Rural Communities continue to make significant contribution in the area of Agriculture, while raising their children.

Mr. Dalton added that while women have made significant gains in society, he believes that there is still some work to be done to achieve gender equality.
