The 14th Annual OECS Credit Union Summit was officially opened today. The theme for this year’s Summit is “Strengthening OECS Credit Union Co-operation, Integration and Innovation”.
Participating countries include Antigua and Barbuda, the Commonwealth of Dominica, Grenada, Montserrat, St. Kitts and Nevis, St. Lucia and St. Vincent & the Grenadines.
Remarks came from the President of the SVG Co-operative League, Mr. Dwight Lewis, Heads of country delegations: President- Caribbean Confederation of Credit Unions (CCCU), Mr. Aaron Moses, Vice President, Sales & Marketing (Jamaica), CUNA Caribbean Insurance Society, Mr. David Fritz and Minister of National Mobilization, Social Development, Family, Gender Affairs, Persons with Disabilities and Youth, Hon. Frederick Stephenson.
The keynote address was delivered by Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, National Security, Legal Affairs, Grenadines Affairs and the Public Service, St. Vincent & the Grenadines, Dr. The Hon. Ralph E. Gonsalves.
He emphasized that the world is changing and called for the amalgamation of some financial institutions.
