SVG Won at NORCECA Men’s Volleyball

St. Vincent and the Grenadines won the Senior Men’s Group “E” of the NORCECA Zone of the World Volleyball Championships Qualification round for the Eastern Caribbean last night when they defeated Dominica 22-25, 25-19, 25-18, 25-21 in the Final at the Beausejour Indoor Facility in St. Lucia.

In the third place play off, Antigua and Barbuda defeated St. Kitts and Nevis, 3-2.

Earlier yesterday, after being two sets ahead of Antigua and Barbuda, St. Vincent and the Grenadines lost their final preliminary match, 25-19, 25-19, 22-25, 20-25, 12-15.

Their win of Group “E” of the NORCECA Qualifying Tournament has put St. Vincent and the Grenadines in the NORCECA Continental Championships in Colorado Springs USA next month, as one of two teams from the Eastern Caribbean Zone.

Six Vincentians played outstandingly in the Tournament and received six of the Individual Awards at last night’s Closing Ceremony.

The St. Vincent and the Grenadines Captain, Daryl Franklyn won the Best Receiver Award; Jahmal Small was voted the Best Setter; Marcus Thomas, emerged as one of two Best Middle Blockers; Ronaldo Franklyn and Asmond Franklyn, were the two Best Outside Hitters, and Jad Martin won the Best Digger Award.

Franklyn was voted the Tournament’s Most Valuable Player.
