The National Emergency Management Organization {NEMO} will host  a National Workshop here today, to finalize the Country Work Program 2020 – 2024 for St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

The forum is being held to finalize programs and a plan of action to implement the national and regional priorities of the Comprehensive Disaster Management (CDM) Strategy, the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction.

It will also seek to ensure that the Sustainable Development Goals and the National Economic and Social Development Plan of St. Vincent and the Grenadines 2013 – 2025 are incorporated into the Country Work Program.

The Country Work Program has been developed based on the gaps identified following consultations held over the last year.

The workshop will take place at NEMO’s Conference Room from 8:30 this  morning, in collaboration with the Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency (CDEMA) and the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR).

The Country Work Program (CWP) 2020-2024 for St. Vincent and the Grenadines will be finalized in collaboration with a number of Ministries and Organizations.

The main focus will be on sectors that have a focus on disaster risk reduction which includes the Health, Tourism, Education, Physical Planning, Economic and Sustainable Development, Agriculture and Private Sector.

The National Emergency Management Organization conducted meetings with representatives from these sectors prior to the workshop, to discuss their sector plans over the next four to five years towards building resilience.
