The Head of the University of the West Indies (UWI) Open Campus, Deborah Dalrymple is appealing to Vincentians to own their Garifuna Heritage with pride.
She made this appeal as she addressed the official launch of activities for the 7th Annual International Garifuna Conference, earlier this week.
The program of events will be held from March 6th to 13th to coincide with the National Heroes and Heritage Month celebrations.
Mrs. Dalrymple said more needs to be done to educate the Vincentian public about the position of honour in which the Garifuna Heritage is held by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) and other international organizations.
Mrs. Dalrymple is also appealing to Vincentians to seek more knowledge about their own heritage.
